“Baby Bakerita”
Remember the movie “Raising Arizona” when the crazy couple wanted a baby so badly they would do anything to get it. “Go get me a baby High”
This true story involves YOU, me, a Spanish teacher, some awesome cookies, and the dream of being a mother!
One night my wife had some friends over for a girls night out. Out on the table sat some thick chunk cookies. Not your ordinary cookie but a big mound of fresh all natural ingredients. You could just taste the combination of chocolate chunks, butter, brown sugar, and flour as this cookie didn’t stand a chance. Later that night I asked who made the cookies? Lisa said, “Hailey’s Spanish Teacher!, Leslie Ginn”
All of her teachers have an email so I thought I would drop Senora Ginn a message letting her know those were some of the best cookies I have put into my mouth.
The next day I got this wonderful return email full of enthusiasm. Some people are blessed with that talent to write in a way that it just brings smiles to your face. Her email was just like her baking…it brought smiles.
In her letter she explained how she just absolutely loves to bake. It made her so happy that someone who owns a restaurant would comment on her baking and that was the biggest compliment. She further explained that her she was not only baking because it was a joy but because she had a special goal.
Leslie and her husband have devoted their lives to another love of theirs.. TEACHING! She explained that one of the reasons she was baking cookies for friends was to earn enough money to adopt a baby. She was going to bake her way to a blessing, however long it takes.
Leslie told me she was calling her cookie business, “La Chica Bakerita”. I asked her what she charges and she told me sells them by the bakers dozen. When I asked her the cost of each cookie she told me it was hard to calculate sometimes because she will end up baking twenty five cookies to sell fifteen. Leslie explained that any extras went to her Spanish class. Lucky students but I knew she wasn’t making any money that way.
This is where Jeff and I thought we could help out. We are going to help Leslie launch La Chica Bakerita! We are going to do it for Baby Bakerita, because starting a business is just like raising a baby.
We have volunteered to let Leslie use our commercial kitchen to bake these awesome treats. We will be selling these cookies through the Buckley’s Lunchbox on first come first serve basis. I will be announcing the days when we will have them available so pay attention to your Buckley’s email. If these cookies do not put a SMILE on your face, bring them back for a refund... that is how good these cookies are.
